Trail summary: One of three trails originating in Ogden Valley that lead to Ben Lomond Peak. 7.6 miles (one way) of steady climb.
Note: This trail is open to off-road motorcycles. |
Description: Ben Lomond Trail is named after its destination, Ben Lomond Peak. Reaching this summit of 9,712 feet will take the better part of a day, and you should regard this trail as one of the tougher climbs (though, not in a technical sense). |
Trailhead location: On the south side of North Fork Park. To reach North Fork Park, head north on 3300 East in Liberty and take the right fork in the road after about 1 1/2 miles. In another mile, turn left at the entrance to North Fork Park marked "Ben Lomond Trailhead." Go 1 1/2 miles (you'll pass the South Entrance to the Park after about 1 mile) and park near the horse corral. Head uphill (west) from there. |
|
Animals you may see: Moose, moose, and more moose. One group of hikers counted 12 sitings on the climb up alone! |
Plants you may see: Ben Lomond Trail is on an east-facing slope that happens to be one of the wettest in the state, so it's unparalleled for wildflowers. |
